First, the recipients register with basic info to attend the giveaway. Registration occurs once a year, and is valid for one year. This confirms they have a home address in the town we are delivering to. On the day of the giveaway, the recipients drive in a traffic controlled line, where our pantry servants place the food boxes in their vehicles. Giveaways are first come first serve and are finished within one hour. We go to each location once a month, and feed around 120 families every delivery.
Our pantry servants divide the food into "dry boxes" and "frozen boxes". Dry boxes are made up of non-perishable goods such as rice, beans, chips, canned food and other miscellaneous non-refrigerated food. Frozen boxes are frozen meat, bread and various bakery items. The dry boxes are neatly stacked on pallets in our 4,000 sq ft warehouse, and the frozen boxes are stored in our freezer. At this point, the boxes are ready for delivery.
